Today was my first time eating at The Jamaican Dutchy cart. I was served by O'neil himself. It was a very pleasant waiting experience and imagine my surprise when the food was even better than the service!!
Absolutely delicious, authentic, Jamaica cuisine. Perfectly seasoned and not greasy. The Jamaican Dutch is what Goldencrust should be.
So thanks O'neil for feeding me today!! I'll be back for more! Youre a gem!
Carolyn
PS. i really appreciate the way you sweetly wrap the forks in the napkins
Thanks for the delicious salt fish and dumpling breakfast I'm enjoying right now! And, I LOVE that you've added Halal inspired food to your menu. I think you called it ... "Jalal" ... funny!
If I'm going to cheat on my diet I might as well enjoy it ... YUM! )
Sorry, I don't know the guy's name that's usually there in the morning, but he thinks it's amusing that I ask for less dumplings!
I've been a customer since day one, and am still a faithful customer. ONeil puts his heart and soul into his food, which makes it all the more better.
You must try the Saltfish Cookup, served daily for breakfast. It is ABSOLUTELY delicious!!! I buy this almost every morning. It is a hot item that sells fast, so I find myself racing in the mornings to get to ONeils cart before he sells out. I shouldn't be telling you this because that means less for me. :0)
Both ONeil and Ricardo are true gems who serve up GREAT and AUTHENTIC Jamaican cuisine, along with sincere, personable, friendly customer service, reasonable prices and generous portions. It is so refreshing to stop by his cart daily. The warm smiles and brief conversations, will jump start your day. Throw in an entree of your choice, and you can very well find yourself floating on cloud nine. So glad I'm not homesick for Jamaica like I used to be, since they've bought a piece of Jamaica here with them. I am a customer for life! Keep doing big things ONeil...I see a GREAT future ahead of you.

By a friends recommendation..Took a walk over and there are no regrets here...Food is GREAT, The Men have you smiling while you wait..What else can I ask for..If you haven't tried it make a stop that you wont regret!
About a month ago, my boyfriend spotted the Jamaican Dutchy cart on his way to work. He called me and asked me to meet him there for lunch. My boyfriend uses a wheelchair and when the guys spotted him in the line (about 18 people deep), they told us to move over to the lower window - in NYC, this gesture of kindness is rarely extended to us so right away we were impressed and thankful. We ordered the Jerk Chicken Sandwich, the Lamb on Rice and a side of Plantains. It was fantastic. We are both originally from Florida and agree that even there, we've only had Jamaican food this good a couple times...it's unbelievable that it's served out of a street cart! The cooks that work in the cart are incredibly friendly. I've been back twice since our first visit (this Tuesday and I've, admittedly ordered the same thing-it's so good!) but the cooks recognize me and I always get a warm greeting! The amount and quality of the food is grand compared to the price you pay for it. I'm totally impressed...in our family we joke that the carts on the streets of NYC are "street meat" and shady...this cart rises up far and above any other I've eaten from in this city! Authenticity is key...Awesome!!! Thanks guys! Keep it up and I'm sure I'll be stopping by next week!
i can't say that i have ever had cows foot before. i have had pigs foot. (amazing) and many other cow parts that most americans would never touch. today is thursday and cows foot is the standing special. i am an adventurous eater. i usually assume the specials are special for a reason; i assume a combination of seasonal freshness and exquisiteness. i went with the cows foot special and it does not disappoint! fall off the bone good, a touch of sweetness, and a delicious stew sauce that has captured all the marrowy, beefy, collageny delicious goodness of hours of cooking.
My colleagues keep raving about the cart so I finally had to try it. Amazing food, better than a lot of restaurants in the area! Great portion sizes for the prices too! O'neil and company are friendly and make excellent food!
A must have weekly.!!! Food is excellent, price is decent, and not to mention.....service with a smile...especially from the Chef with the nice teeth.....Big up, O'Neil!!!!!
I absolutely love The Jamaican Dutchy! I have to roll up to their cart at least once a week. The food is absolutely delicious. It's never greasy and always filling. The crowd of customers the cart attracts are part of the experience too!!
Thanks O'neil for feeding me good food and a warm smile!
I've also been a customer from day one and must say everything on the menu is delicious. There are quite a few people from my job that raves about The Jamaican Dutchy. I personally like the jerk chicken sandwich. One day O'Neil had me try it with the steamed cabbage and I've been hooked since...THANK YOU!
Friday July 2, 2010 was my first time eating from the Jamaican Dutchy food cart. I had the curry chicken which was absolutely delicious as well as the goat soup. I wanted to go back to get another soup, but was to close to home by then. Can't wait to go back on weekly basis.
I've eaten here since 2008 when I worked on the Westside, last year I was on the eastide and didn't get to come by as much. Now that my job has brought me back I'm a regular. Brought my sis-in-law to lunch Friday as she just came up from DC and we had a delicious meal! Plus she thought both Ricardo and O'Neill are cute. Although she's single and looking I'm just here for the delicious food!! Keep it coming! Tish
Masterful Cooking! Jamaican Dutchy offers some of the best tasting foods in new york city at a super price. I come here with a Jamaican friend several times a week for years and the food is very tasty. My Jamaican friend says that O'neil's Jamaican Dutchy cart's food taste better than most restaurant's in Jamaica!!!
The portion sizes are huge. A small can feed 2 people and a large can feed 3 people. My favorites are the curry goat and stewed peas. I've been to many good quality restaurants and food carts all over new york. This restaurant quality cart is easily one of the best deals in the city. Not surprisingly, the Dutchy was a 2009 finalist in the vendy awards. There are 2 really great hot sauces offered that O'neil should bottle and sell. Be warned, they are really good but really hot. Keep up the great work guys. Hopefully, I'll read about you in the NY times soon.
I told u I would send a message. The food from The Jamaican Dutchy is the best, this side of Manhattan…y’all need to open up a Restaurant in every borough…much love and continued success..
